Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating an afternoon shootout Friday at the busy Edgewood Towne Center.
Police received reports of shots fire in the parking lot near the Foot Locker at around 3:30 p.m., a county dispatch supervisor said. KDKA reported that police found two guns believed to have been used in the shooting -- one in a trash can and another behind the plaza.
Edgewood police received a report that someone in a car believed to have been linked to the shooting flagged down an ambulance at the corner of Forbes and South Braddock avenues in Regent Square to seek help for a gunshot victim. The victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian but the car's driver left.
At about the same time, police received a report of a disturbance at Kmart in the shopping plaza after security officers tried to stop a man believed to have been involved in the shooting. Police said he changed clothes, stashed marijuana and a gun into a trash can and fled.
