Time has come –
really come:
to open our windows and doors
and feel cold,
to rise from our plush –
to count the digits
on our hands and feet,
to turn our shoes inside out,
to feel the inside of a mirror,
to peel a cloud from the sky,
eat a tangerine in our sleep,
mine some truth from our gardens,
study the ways we view our loveliness,
the loveliness of a busman,
a farmer
in the market
a passerby
on the street
a child
in school,
to speak with our brothers and sisters
in a circle around our injured globe,
(in the universal language of hope)
to find ourselves in the swimming pool
with the heart of our desires –
Our time has come –
really come
(way in the distant past?).
